Pastor Daranne Harris is deeply passionate about vocation, living out one’s baptismal calling in the world. This theme of an inseparable faith-life winds through her ministry. After completing her MDiv at Lutheran Theological Seminary (Saskatoon), Pastor Daranne served at the ELCIC’s humanitarian and development organization, Canadian Lutheran World Relief, followed by five years at Hope Lutheran Church (Calgary), and then as the Chief Mission Officer and leader for pastoral care at Bethany Care Society. In 2018, she commenced PhD studies at the University of Calgary to explore the relationship between awe/wonder and compassion in the long-term care setting. During this time, she has also served in a part-time capacity at both Advent and Emmanuel Lutheran churches during pastoral vacancies. She joined LCOS as interim pastor in August 2023.
Pastor Daranne is a contributor to Canada Lutheran, serves on Synod Council for the Synod of Alberta and the Territories and is the ABT Synod Ecumenical Officer (South) and teaches at Lutheran Theological Seminary. As the Founder of Catalyzing Compassion, she seeks to bring together the science and heart (spirituality) of compassion through education and shared community.
Pastor Daranne is married and has a teenage son. Their household is also filled with the affection of Roxy, the pomsky.
